Laser fusion device - SG III
As the first 100,000J high-power laser device to conduct the researches of High Energy Density Physics and Inertial Confinement Fusion, SG-III Host Unit has been basically completed in China Academy of Engineering Physics. As the largest laser unit in Asia and the second largest laser unit in the world, SG-III Host Unit has 48 laser beams, with total output of 180,000 joules, and a peak power of 60 trillion watts. In February 2015, six beam groups of SG-III Host Unit realized the energy output of 7,500 joules of fundamental-frequency laser and 2,850 joules of third-harmonic-generation laser. The main performance indexes of laser device meet the design requirements, indicating that SG-III Host Unit is basically completed. China has become the second country to carry out multi-beam laser inertial confinement fusion experimental study after the development of ignition device of the United States.
The bleeder resistor and loading resistor, provided by Xi'an Shendian for Shengguang Project of China Academy of Engineering Physics, can effectively reduce the size of engineering equipment, improve the targeting reliability, reduce the operating temperature (compared with traditional load), and eliminate the line inductance. It has been highly praised by the users.
